Meet Patrick Shea
Patrick Shea is a thirty-something detective sergeant serving with the London Metropolitan Police. After graduating from the Peel Centre, originally known as the Hendon Police Academy, he served as a uniformed officer and detective constable (DC) in the Borough of Renwick, in West London.
After passing his sergeant’s exam, he was enrolled in the High Potential Development Scheme (aka fast tracking) and was assigned to the Borough of Hampden,* also in West London.
In 2004, Patrick was assigned to a Murder Investigation Team at Scotland Yard where he serves under Detective Chief Inspector Tommy Boyle and Superintendent Anita Lawrence.
*The Districts of Renwick and Hampden are fictitious.
Professional Life: When paired with DCI Boyle, Patrick hit gold. By emphasizing the “carrot over the stick” approach to policing, the senior detective keeps Patrick’s more gung-ho inclinations in check. Recognizing Patrick’s superior analytical abilities, Superintendent Lawrence assigns Tommy and Patrick to some of the most high-profile murders in London.
Personal life: After graduating from City University in London, Patrick married Allison Matheson. Together they have a son, Josh. After three years, their marriage ended in divorce because Ally could not deal with being the wife of a man whose job is dangerous and one that requires that he interact with some of London’s worst elements. But Patrick is not ready to give up on love. Unfortunately, “the job” keeps getting in the way.
